A friend of mine suggested this one so thanks for the recommendation, my friends and I have been really racking our brains trying to think of some ‘weird crushes’. What constitutes as a weird crush I thought? Is it someone who isn’t “classically” good looking who you find attractive yourself? Or could it be someone who is a little bit odd but you find them endearing? Take a look at the list below and see what you think. There’s some obvious ones I think, but also some quite out-of-left-field men too (I found this list so difficult, I couldn’t give proper reasons as to why I fancied some of them, I just knew I did find them attractive)! My friends could confirm, I’ve always had quite strange taste (present company excluded, Wes).
10. Ray Winstone
Oh how I love me a bit of a geezer. I love a bloke who has a heavy South East English accent and comes across as a bit of a rogue and I think Ray fits the bill here perfectly. OK, he’s not classically attractive but I really don’t think that matters. Mr Winstone has that “something about him” which makes me go a bit weak at the knees when I hear his accent or see him on TV. You know he wouldn’t be a push over, and I like that about a man!
9. Seth Rogan
Ah Seth, lovely Seth. I fell totally and utterly in love with him in ‘Knocked Up’. Again, he’s not classically handsome but it didn’t stop me fancying him in the film, mainly because he was just so ridiculously funny. He’d be a great bloke to go out and have a few beers with and enjoy a bit of banter. Definitely would!
8. Gregg Wallace
This is a weird one for sure. While he might be on a few peoples hypothetical slapping list (Wes included) I can’t help but love Gregg (never forget his extra G mind, he’s quite protective of that G). Again he’s got a bit of an accent so he wins points for me, he comes across again, like a bit of a geezer and he clearly knows his stuff when it comes to his food. I like how his eyes light up on Masterchef when someone presents him with a very tempting dessert. The main reason I like him is the way he eats said dessert off of his spoon. I don’t want to come across like I’ve really studied it (I have) but I love how he really savours that first mouthful before he pulls the spoon out of his mouth, there’s something quite attractive about it – who’s the weird one now eh?
7. Jeff Hordley
This is since he chopped all his locks off I have to make clear. I really wasn’t a fan of the long mop!
I love a bit of Cain Dingle, he would definitely be my bit of rough, I would make it my personal challenge to make him smile, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look happy the whole time he’s been in Emmerdale! That doesn’t really bother me though, I do love his brooding look.
6. Martin Kemp
It’s the eyes with Martin Kemp, I think he has the most beautiful eyes, like a photo in a holiday brochure of the crystal clear blue sea. He seems like quite a decent bloke too, was good in Eastenders back in the day and lets face it, his band wasn’t bad either were they? Let’s not forget he also has that London accent I’m so keen on too!
5. Jose Mourinho
Again, I wondered is Jose a weird crush? The jury is out on this one I guess, he’s handsome and very rich.
I’ll be honest, I don’t actually know a lot about Jose to express comment on him, but what I will say is whenever I’ve seen him in the dugout in a football match or on the TV etc I’ve found him very attractive. He’s got a gorgeous face!
4. Darren Gough
I’ve had a long time crush on Darren Gough, this dates back to the early noughties I think, only exacerbated by his appearance on Stricty Come Dancing when he showcased his very light on his feet moves. He comes across like such a happy chap, with a bit of a cheek about him (you can’t beat a cheeky man can you) with the right amount of banter too. He’s also quite easy on the eye too.
3. Danny Dyer
I ummed and ahhed over Danny, is he a weird crush or a normal one I thought? Admittedly, I guess it could be construed as a little cringe to admit to fancying Danny Dyer but I don’t care I really do quite fancy him, he’s got a bit of swagger about him. As outlined above, I love a man with a London accent – he’s got that in abundance, I love a cheeky chappy – Danny is definitely a bit cheeky, he’s a bit of a lad, let’s be honest! I really don’t think he takes himself too seriously either, he knows what he’s about and plays on it for a laugh.
2. Simon Cowell
I’m telling you now, I bet this man would make it on the majority of women’s weird crushes and I’ll tell you why, it comes down to power. He has such an incredible amount of power (not Barak Obama level of power but still pretty powerful!) I think this is what makes him quite attractive.
Back in the day, before he had (probably) more botox than Amanda Holden, he used to do that cheeky wink at the end of an audition he’d enjoyed and it would make me go all funny, I loved it! Sadly, the movement around that part of his face doesn’t seem to be what it once was. I still decided to put him on here though because I still definitely would and he is still a weird crush.
1. Sylvester Stallone
Yep, this is a definite weird crush and this has been one of mine since I was quite young. It was the film Cliffhanger what done it for me. I also think he has aged really well (which is more than can be said for his old dear “Hey Jackie”)
I know he’s not conventially good looking but I don’t care. I like his rugged looks and that snarly face he pulls from time to time along with his accent too. I was disappointed however, to see him in a Warburtons advert recently, Sly Stallone and lower fat Bagels are not 2 things I would associate with each other.
Thanks for reading my brief blog of my weird crush. I did find this one quite difficult I have to say, and I’m wondering if later down the line a bloke will pop up who I find attractive and is a bit weird and I’ll wish I listed him. I met up with one of my best friends yesterday and we were discussing this blog and it reminded me of the time I admitted to fancying Kevin Webster (the character not the actor). He was having an affair at the time with Molly in Corrie and I don’t know what it was (I was going through a strange period in my life at the time if that’s any form of justification) and found him strangely alluring. I’m now happy to confirm that has since passed and whenever he is on my screen I no longer have any strange feelings. Billy Mitchell was another fleeting attraction too but less said about that one the better.
Here’s Wes’ weird crush list.
10. Debbie Rush (Anna Windass in Corrie)

6. Ellie Harrison (Countryfile)
5. Sophie Ellis-Bextor
4. Michelle Mone
