If there’s one thing I enjoy in the blogging community it’s a good old fashioned Q&A sesh. So, thanks for (taking my hints seriously) nominating me James at A Life Just Ordinary. It’s been a blast!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Right, I can recall back in 2010 there was snow on the ground. We’d had lots of snow throughout that month and although snow did not fall on Christmas Day, there was still the leftovers in my garden so I’m calling that a white Christmas.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
In the morning we’ll be at home, drinking Bucks Fizz (at 7am, don’t judge), opening presents and having family visit then we’ll head down to my Mum’s for Christmas lunch. I’ll be eating said lunch in my pyjamas and what of it?
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Here is a list of my Top 10 favourite Christmas songs. Go on, have a look, you may be
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Isn’t that bad luck? I don’t need any more bad luck in my life so I won’t be taking the risk.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Can I Google?
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Bucks Fizz for breakfast. My dearly beloved and I will head up to a pub near my Mum’s before lunch for a festive vino or 2. That’s been tradition for years. Although this year I’m determined to curtail my wine consumption at 2 because I can’t remember a lot about my Christmas dinner last year and that saddens me.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
We’re not putting one up. The cat will think it’s a scratching post solely erected for her benefit and I wouldn’t sleep well, worrying that I’d wake up on Christmas morning to find her squashed underneath it.
What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
Eggnog is a must. Although that tipped me over the edge last year. Every single item on my plate for Christmas lunch. Ferrero Rocher’s are something I consume for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the run up to Christmas. Oh and those tins of savoury snacks. I don’t care what anyone says, Mini Cheddars are better in a tin as opposed to a packet (basically because the tin is never ending).
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
Various people might call bullshit on this one but I honestly like giving more than receiving. That sounds dirty.
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
Can I say my son? He was born 3 weeks before Christmas and I like to call him my early Christmas present.
Although, I’ll add under here that I’m still fuming I never received a Mr Frosty back in c.1993.
I never got over it.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Lapland. We’ll deffo visit one year, even if we’ll have to remortgage our house to go.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I am like the Honey G of the (w)rapping world. Abysmal.
Most memorable Christmas moment?
I could do a Top 10 for this question.
My son being born in 2013. Getting engaged on Christmas Eve 2012. Turning up to Christmas dinner 2008 (which was in a restaurant) still pissed from the night before (I didn’t get home until 7am). A night out with my best friends and our men, Christmas 2015. It involved a lot of drink and a lot of post it notes. Lastly, my old housemate passing out on my Mum & Dad’s sofa on Christmas Eve 2010 and me leaving her there to go to bed; my Dad got quite a surprise.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
Catching my Mum trying to be all stealth like c.1995.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Spending time with my family and friends. Watching my son get excited, I see Christmas through his eyes now and it’s such a revelation. A wonderful (expensive) revelation.
Me and the Big Man. He’s been on speed dial the last month.
